Dr. Duo (Winston) Wu is currently a professor in Chemical Engineering and Associate Dean (Research & International) of College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CCCEMS), Soochow University. Winston received Bachelor Degree in Metallurgical Engineering at Central South University (2005), Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Melbourne (2007), and Ph.D (2010) and Postdoctoral research training in Chemical Engineering at Monash University until early 2013 when he joined Soochow University. He is one of four key personnel in “Innovative Research Team” awarded by the Jiangsu Provincial Government in 2013 and elected as “High-level Professional Talent Attracted from Overseas” in 2014.

Winston’s research interest mainly lies in functional particle science and technology in food and environment fields. He has published 35 papers in research journals, such as AIChE J., Soft Matter, J. Food. Eng., Chem. Eng. Sci., Biochem. Eng. J., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., etc, and more than 20 conference papers in recent years. Two of his pioneering papers published in AIChE J. are recognized as “Top Cited Paper” in 2011. Winston as CI has been undertaking R&D projects with industry partners including China Oil and Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO), Koovine Group Environment Technology Co. Ltd., and Xinjiang Tefeng Biotechnology Co. Ltd., and two research projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China and Jiangsu Province, respectively, with the total research funding over U$ 1M.

As the Associate Dean in Research of CCCEMS that is composed of more than 260 staff members and over 2000 students, Winston’s main administrative duty is to efficiently allocate relevant college resources and construct platforms to support faculty’s application for government-funded research projects and to promote knowledge transfer, including collaboration with industries and commercialization of pioneer scientific findings and technologies. Regarding with the administration in International, his main duty is to bolster collaborations of CCCEMS faculty with high-level research groups in overseas universities/institutes, including co-funding projects, exchange of students and scholars.
