RESEARCH INTEREST related to proposed DFG International Graduate School Proposal

Analytical determination of trace organic chemicals (pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, endocrine disruptors, pharmaceutical residues) in waste water, surface water, groundwater and tap water using chromatographic and bioanalytical methods; generation of poly-, mono- and recombinant antibodies against small organic molecules for the development of immunological methods (microtiter plate immunoassays, multiplexed microarrays, bead-based-suspension assays, lateral flow devices, immunoaffinity cartridges); synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers for the enrichment of organic molecules from complex matrices (molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction); synthesis of new bio-functionalized nanoparticles (quantum dots, magnetic beads, gold colloids, silica particles) as labels of immunoassays; gentle immobilization of plantibodies in sol-gel-glass composites as selective biofilters for depletion of algal toxin-contaminated water; microbial fuel cell type biosensor for determination of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD)
