报告人简介:

Jimmy W. Mays is a professor of the University of Tennessee and Distinguished Scientist of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He received his Ph. D. degree in polymer science at the University of Akron. He then worked in industry for five years with Hercules, Inc., prior to joining the chemistry faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prof. Jimmy W. Mays moved to Tennessee in 2002 to accept a joint appointment at the University and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
His research interests include synthesis of linear and branched polymers and copolymers of controlled structure, especially via anionic polymerization; polymer molecular characterization via dilute solution techniques; polymers at interfaces; polymeric biomaterials; charged polymers; block copolymer morphology; and polymerization in room temperature ionic liquids.
Prof. Jimmy W. Mays has published more than 300 research articles. He was elected the Fellow of American Chemical Society and Herman Mark Senior Scholar in 2011 and the Founding Fellow of ACS Division of Polymer Chemistry in 2010. He has been the recipient of many awards, including the 2003 Arthur K. Doolittle Award and the 2010 Gold Metal of the Greek Polymer Society.
