报告内容摘要:
In nanotechnology, detection of nanostructures at length scale in the range of 10 to 500 nm is critical for the design and development of nanomaterials. Many different techniques have been advanced and developed for the quantification of the dimensions of these nanostructures. Techniques, such as atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and various types of scattering techniques have been used for this purpose. In this short workshop, I will be discussing the use of dynamic and static light scattering techniques to determine the microstructure and morphology of various types of nanostructures. The basic principles and theory will be outlined and discussed, and several examples on the use of DLS and SLS to quantify nanostructures will be described. Properties such as weight average molecular weight, hydrodynamic radius, radius of gyration and the second virial coefficient that could be obtained from these techniques will be discussed in details.
